Asalamu Alaikum, ladies! Dabke is back, and this time we’re taking it all the way to the stage.

Dabke is the dance of the land: a line of women holding hands, stamping in rhythm, moving as one. This winter, Tasneem Othman and Rayanne Gaghamin of the talented @thawra.dabke troupe will teach you the steps from the very beginning. Then you’ll build an entire routine together, step by step, until it’s ready for the stage. No experience needed, just bring your energy and your sisters.

What you’ll do

• Learn the foundational dabke steps, from the basics to the showstoppers
• Build a full routine together, guided by Tasneem and Rayanne
• Perform it at The Annual Ilham Showcase, our all-women evening on Saturday, January 9 (if you’d like to!)

Schedule: Wednesdays, 7–9 PM

• Wed, Dec 2: Session 1 (open to all)
• Wed, Dec 9: Session 2
• Wed, Dec 16: Session 3
• Wed, Jan 6: Session 4
• Sat, Jan 9: The Annual Ilham Showcase

Choose your option

• Full series, $175 early bird (through Sunday, Nov 15) / $199 regular: all 4 sessions, plus free admission to the Showcase.
• First class only, $75: come to the Dec 2 class and see if dabke is for you.

Perform, or just learn? Your choice!

For the first time ever, dabke is coming to the Showcase stage! Our past venues didn’t allow us to perform dabke, but this year’s new venue does, and we can’t wait to see you up there.

When you register for the full series, just tell us: “Yes, I’ll perform!” or “No, I just want to learn.” Both are welcome. The routine builds week by week, so to perform on January 9 you’ll need to attend all 4 sessions.

If you try the first class and fall in love (you will!), you can upgrade to the full series before December 9 and just pay the difference. Just reach out to us and we’ll take care of it.

Location: Burr Ridge/Hinsdale area. The exact address will be sent after you register. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can stamp in!
